St. John 5K & Kids Mile FAQ

Q: What are the age divisions for awards for the St. John Step Up 5K & Kids Mile?
A: The St. John 5K will present awards to the top males and females in the following age groups: 14 & Under, 15-18, 19-24. 25-29. 30-34. 35-39. 40-44. 45-49. 50-54. 55 and up. These awards will be mailed during the week following the race. Additionally, every Kids Mile participant will receive a free t-shirt.

Q: What time will the race start?
A: The 5K at 8:00 a.m. and the Kids Mile starts at 8:40. Participants need to arrive by 7:00 a.m.

Q: Do I have to register online?
A: No. Although we prefer you to register online, you can mail in your entry. You may pay online using a credit card or debit card, or by mail with a check.

Q: Where are the start and finish lines?
A: Runners will start and finish in the Nelson Field parking lot, located at 7101 Berkman Drive.

Q: If I am injured, sick or otherwise not able to participate in the St. John 5K & Kids Mile, can I get my entry fee refunded, transferred to another individual or rolled over to the next year?
A: Registration is non-refundable and cannot be rolled over to a future race.

Q: Are there any discounts available for the St. John 5K?
A: Yes, sign up before August 12 to receive a discount!!

Q: Are awards based on clock (gun) time or chip time?
A: All awards are based on chip time.

Q: What is the difference between chip time and clock (gun) time?
A: Clock time is the time it takes from the official start of the race to when you cross the finish line. Chip time is the time it takes you to go from the start line to the finish line, regardless of when you cross the start line.

Q: How do I find out about race changes due to inclement weather, disaster, etc.?
A: The St. John 5K will run, rain or shine, barring an act of God.

Q: When and where is the packet pickup?
A: All participants must come by to get your race packet, which includes your bib, timing chip, t-shirt, and more.  The location and times will be listed here at least two weeks before the race.

Q: Where do I park on race day?
A: Free race day parking will be on the south side of the Nelson Field parking lot, or across the street at Reagan.

Q: What if I have never run or walked in a 5K race before?
A: That’s okay! The St. John 5K & Kids Mile is a great event for beginners and experienced athletes.
